After successfully helping my friends kill the Midland ISD bond, I learned the best way to get rid of a superintendent is to vote against their bond referendums. Miles will be sent packing just like Orlando Riddick. It wasn’t just the teacher unions rejecting the boondoggle. Parents have been disenfranchised and they don’t want a military man sent to implode their neighborhood schools. Business owners and homeowners don’t want the $4.44B tax burden while Miles squanders money on consultants and bottom-feeders.
With all due respect the teacher union is absolutely against Mike Miles and therefore anything that will aid his success. I have been involved turning around a number of low performing organizations, much like HISD. Miles is clearly not winning hearts and minds, but student achievement has made material improvement.
Improvement is made only by making changes and changes are often painful.
I am sorry for your pain and anger and very happy for the performance improvements at HISD.
If the primary purpose of voting against the bond was to oust Miles at the expense of the safety, health and comfort of students and teachers, then shame on you.
Well, Mike Miles is sure losing the infowar, at the same time that he is saving the academic lives of thousands of children. Boy, do I hate the teachers union.
Another perspective. Bill King ran for mayor of Houston a couple election cycles ago and is hardly a union hack. https://www.billkingblog.com/blog/houston-isd-bond-goes-down-in-historic-defeat?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAR2k_MQFwhOzk79pH7qO7X2APcxzY8IFw0IX6KA6U04mKEpTMn8n2v3pp5g_aem_zWOk_UViwYZgQkodbRTgdQ
This is an interesting perspective. Thanks for sharing.
This isn’t astroturf - this is democracy.
Even more depressing.
Yeah or if you run a public school that’s asking for tax dollars you will be held accountable by the public for your actions.

Lynn Davenport speaks for the anti-community rich anarchists who never ever mean what they say.
